Lab Shire

The LABSHIRE is a diverse and participatory collaborative ecosystem that attracts and integrates interdisciplinary knowledge, skills and ideas.

Through Lab Shire we systematize and disseminate the main experiences and learnings that are acquired in the projects.

In addition, this innovation space connects the projects of the Shire Alliance with other relevant projects, organizations and alliances, facilitating the exchange of experiences and the discussion about methodologies, approaches and learning.

Our goal is that the proposed solutions can be applied in other contexts of humanitarian crisis.

The main actions that Lab Shire is carrying out are:

  • Systematization of the experience of the Shire Alliance to develop recommendations in the work of multi-stakeholder partnerships, and connected to the Sustainable Development Goal 17.
  • Support to the project that the Shire Alliance is developing in three Shire refugee camps (Ethiopia) in the training area.
  • Connection of the Shire Alliance with other international initiatives for access to energy in humanitarian contexts.

What we are learning…

Between 2014 and 2017, the Shire Alliance has developed a pilot project in the Adi-Harush refugee camp in Shire, in northern Ethiopia. These are some of the lessons learned:
